Eclipse Presentation Request Page

In preparation for the upcoming August 21, 2017, total solar eclipse, Vanderbilt University Dyer Observatory and the Vanderbilt University Physics & Astronomy Department are working to educate the public on the nature of solar eclipses with an emphasis on safe viewing practices. As part of this, we are offering the opportunity for FREE guest presentations about the eclipse at your facility. Presentations will be approximately 45 minutes in duration with an additional 15 minutes for question/answer sessions.

When requesting a presentation, please keep in mind the following points:

  • Minimum age for attendees is 8 years.
  • Minimum group size is 30 attendees.
  • Any requests made outside of a 30-mile radius of Vanderbilt University will be taken under consideration.
  • Requested dates and times may not be able to be fulfilled based on speaker availability (speakers are graduate students, post-docs, faculty, and staff who are volunteering their time).
  • Presenters will be using PowerPoint presentations on laptops. The presentation site MUST have AC power and a digital projector with VGA cord. If other connection options are available, please list in the “Additional Information” section below.
  • It is highly recommended that you make a request at least TWO (2) weeks in advance to help guarantee speaker availability.
